Drive shaft boots for swing axles are made of copolymer, a plastic that can withstand extremely high temperatures and does not dry out. As a result, the boots have a very long service life, but there is also a drawback: copolymer is much thinner than rubber and therefore more vulnerable to over-clamping of the clamps or contact with a sharp object.
Mount these boots with the horizontal seam at the back and use a liquid seal between the seam to achieve a leak-free end result.
In the swing axle system, the rear wheel bearings are lubricated with gearbox oil.
Only the side of the gearbox is fitted with a transmission boot, i.e. a total of two pieces per car.
