The heater works on all air-cooled Volkswagens, with cables running from the control handle to the heat exchangers. The only exception is the military version of the Volkswagen Thing, which is equipped with an auxiliary heater and therefore does not use heat exchangers (but many have been converted to civilian versions that use heat exchangers).
The heating cable mounting on the arm or control box is often rusted, bent or broken during disassembly. This kit contains all the fixing parts used to mount the heating cable, intended for the original cable model, i.e. with a thickened end. If you are using universal heating cables (without the thickened end), use a longer M6 bolt (not included), otherwise you will not have a tightening range.
Supplied as a set for one side.
Note: The mounting cylinder used to secure the cable has an internal locking device to resist engine vibration. Use pliers to hold the cylinder during clamping so that the cable is not damaged by rotation.
Applicable on all Volkswagens equipped with air-cooled engines and heaters.
Check that the operation runs smoothly without the cables being connected and (if necessary) run everything again. If the assembly can no longer be saved, replace the complete control arm or control box.
