There are many possibilities to improve road handling. By replacing the soft rubbers or bushings of the original torsion bars with these urethane rubbers, the car gets a stiffer suspension, resulting in better handling. It is advisable to replace the inner and outer rubbers to obtain the best possible result.
These urethane torsion bar rubbers make noise after assembly; applying a little Vaseline over the rubbers will reduce the noise. When the rubbers are used for some time, the Vaseline will have disappeared and the improvement in handling becomes visible.
There are two types of urethane rubber, those with bumps on the outside and fully round versions with different inside diameters.
Urethane rubbers must have a perfect fit, they don't bend like the original rubber, that's why the inside diameter differs from the original. This does not always mean that the rubber indicated for your year of manufacture is also the right one, it also depends on which torsion bar cover is fitted.
When assembling new covers or other spring plates or adjustable spring plates, care must be taken to select the correct rubbers.
Below you will find the urethane torsion bar rubbers with their shape and inner diameter :

01451 with bumps ±45 mm
04435 with bumps ±51 mm
01429 round ±48 mm
01452 round ±45 mm
