To allow the handbrake to operate separately from the hydraulic system, the rear brakes are equipped with a push rod between the brake shoes and a lever to which the handbrake cable is attached. The lever actuates the rear brake shoe and simultaneously pushes the front brake shoe by means of the push rod.
If the push rods are not bent or worn, it is not necessary to replace them, check them carefully and replace if they are. Do not try to bend or repair them in any other way, you will regret it later if it causes more damage.
