Das Abschaltventil sorgt dafür, dass der Motor nicht weiterläuft, wenn die Zündung ausgeschaltet wird. Dies kann nur geschehen, wenn der Motor heiß ist.
Um zu prüfen, ob das Ventil noch funktioniert, schalten Sie die Zündung ein oder schließen Sie es an 12 Volt an (das Gehäuseteil ist die Masse), wenn Sie ein Klicken hören, funktioniert es noch, wenn Sie gar nichts hören, ist das Ventil kaputt. Im Falle des Bypass-Luftabschaltventils können Sie es auch an dem Kolben sehen, der sich während des Betriebs bewegt.
Wenn Ihr Vergaser eine Leerlaufdüse hat und der Motor nicht oder nur schwer läuft und auch zwischen 70 und 80 km/h zurückhält, ist die Düse wahrscheinlich verstopft und muss gereinigt werden.
