The rear seat backrest of the convertible version does not rest on the bodywork as in the sedan version, but on the tube that runs through the hinge cover.
To prevent rattling, there is a rubber around the left and right tubes against which the seat backrest rests.
In many convertibles these rubbers are missing, mainly because the owner does not know that there must be rubbers around the tubes and Volkswagen only provided information about this in the 50s and 60s and later, but they were fitted right up to the last day of production.
