The door sill protection has a dual function: it protects the paintwork on the heating channel and also holds the heating channel upholstery in place. For the Volkswagen Beetle, there is even a model that goes even further, so that the upholstery is fully protected. But in spite of these features, it is mainly an embellishment of the entrance of your VW, it was fitted as standard on the Karmann Ghia, while for the VW Beetle it is an additional accessory that was never originally used.
If you want to mount it on a post-1968 Volkswagen Beetle, you'll have to remove the strip where the heating channel upholstery hook behind to make up for the height difference, only then the dual function is really used, it protects the sill the and more, it holds the upholstery in place. With the pre-1968 Volkswagen Beetle, this is not necessary, the strip that holds the upholstery is much lower.
For the Volkswagen Beetle, there are three versions in polished stainless steel:
- smooth, which only retains the upholstery
- a similar model, with a luxurious profile and with the logo of the brand (not represented on the photo).
Supplied without mounting screws, please order some, they are listed in the options tab
