From July 1967, the most luxurious VW Beetles were fitted with a soft plastic dashboard cover, in answers the many questions of Volkswagen's loyal drivers who constantly referred to other brands regarding the sober interior design of the Volkswagen. With the decoration of the dashboard and the complete change of the interior, Volkswagen had reached a new market. This resulted in increased sales in America and Canada. For the domestic market, sales consisted mainly of the more advantageous versions of the Volkswagen Beetle; until the end of the 1960s, it was mainly the export models that were equipped with a luxury dashboard. In the early 1970s, this trend changed. The domestic market also wanted to spend a little more money on a luxury Volkswagen and, as a result, several luxury versions were produced for the internal market where a soft plastic dashboard cover was often used.
If you have a standard version and want to upgrade to a deluxe version, you can easily mount a dashboard cover. But remember that all switches and vents are no longer suitable in length, so you will have to replace them as well.
Caution : The specified models indicate when Volkswagen has applied it as standard in the luxury versions, all dashboard covers are intended exclusively for left-hand drive (LHD) cars.
