These mudguards are the same as the metal version with the difference that rust can hardly do any more damage, the only thing that could still rust are the front mudguard headlight housings. Headlight housings are made of metal to ensure a good headlight fit, a polyester headlight housing requires a number of adjustments which is not the case with metal that fits like the original.
For the Volkswagen Beetle, only the front fenders with horizontal headlights are available in polyester, the rear fenders are available in polyester but only in a wider version (see the related parts tab). If you want to mount the standard size on the back, use the metal version (see the related parts tab).
For the VW Thing, there is no other alternative, as metal fenders have not been produced for some time. These fiberglass-reinforced polyester reproductions are the same as the original, once assembled and painted in color no difference is noticeable.
All polyester mudguards are of very high quality, produced in Germany and with a perfect fit.
Mount the fenders in the middle and work to the left and right, the fenders can be mounted under tension, after a while the fenders will take the correct shape where the tension has disappeared.
Fiberglass-reinforced polyester is easy to process, you can make adjustments and changes yourself if you wish. The pre-treatment and finishing is the same as for steel, just make sure that the spray booth is not heated too much, if you do this you can cause gas formation.
