The license plate is considered the ugliest part of the car, especially the front one. Ideally, we'd like to remove them en masse, but unfortunately the legislator won't allow it. So we have to find another way of making the plate attractive and, preferably, as classic as possible.
You can surround it with a chrome frame, so that you no longer see the mounting screws, but for the classic look, it's much more authentic to equip your license plate with a white vinyl border, as many dealers did in the 60s and 70s as an extra service.
These vinyl borders are only available for Dutch blue license plates of the dimensions shown:
Note: On the weld, the notch where the plate falls may have melted slightly, use a sharp knife to make the notch accessible again. Place the vinyl edge in hot water to soften it, making it easier to fit without dismantling. Once in place, the edge should be tight around the plate, it's difficult to fit it without heating it, and you risk damaging (read: bending) the plate.
