There are hardly any Volkswagen Buses left whose underside does not need to be replaced. In many cases, the misery is hidden by a layer of coating that won't pass the test of the screwdriver drill.
This sill is part of the sliding door track. At the time, this track was only available as a complete replacement part. In other words, if only the threshold part had to be replaced, you had to buy a complete sliding door track.
Today, you can choose either a complete threshold or a threshold repair part. The repair part consists of a threshold with the profile for the sliding door rubber.
If you use the repair part, you only have to cut out the part that needs to be replaced. When replacing the whole part, you drill out the spot welds and replace the whole frame (as it was done in the factory).
