The outer part of the rocker has often been refurbished by a previous owner, while the inner part, which is not visible from the outside, is usually replaced only during a complete restoration, or when the car cannot pass the periodic technical inspection.
The interior part mentioned here is equipped with the jack stand, which has to be ordered as a separate part for many reproductions. This is not surprising, since this was also the case for the original VW. But now that the jack stand is spot-welded at the factory, it saves you extra welding work and frustration when you have to find out later that you have to transfer the jack stand or order an extra one.
