When tuning the engine, large carburetors are quickly taken into account. Weber and EMPI are the largest suppliers of carburetors today and offer a wide range of carburetors for all types of adjustments. The power increases only partially with a larger carburetor, depending on how the engine is built.
These 34mm carburetors are perfect for getting more power from your standard single or dual port engine, you don't need a double 40 or 44mm at all. If you have gone a little further with larger cylinders and pistons, a modified camshaft, larger cylinder heads, etc., then you will have to ask yourself if it would not be better to install a 40 or 44 mm dual carburetor. Once you have chosen the 34 mm carburetor mentioned here, the following question arises: "Which brand to choose, Weber or EMPI and what is the difference?
We can be very brief, there is practically no difference between the two brands, Weber does not need any additional explanations, which have proven themselves over the years, EMPI on the other hand has been on the market for years but cannot put 50 years of experience behind its name. The EMPI EPC 34 is a true copy of the Weber 34 ICT, where several tests have proven that they do not match each other. The only advantage of an EMPI EPC 34 is that it focuses 100% on the air-cooled Volkswagen with the right emulsion tube and a choice of nozzles that will satisfy most air-cooled engines. Weber is not specifically for Volkswagen and this is reflected in the choice of factory installed parts, which belongs better to Ford than to Volkswagen, you may need to adjust this. In the overview below the nozzles of both carburetors are mentioned. This carburetor is delivered in parts.
