Cylinder head nuts have not only undergone a different dimensioning but also a specific hardening process, so they are not used for other purposes, do not use alternatives.
Cylinder head nuts are replaced preventively by the professional mechanic. Partly because with our air-cooled engines you no longer tighten the nuts after installation, you don't want to take any risks.
The cylinder heads are tightened in two steps, taking into account the tightening sequence :
1st step 10 Nm (1.0 kg/m)
2nd step for M8 thread 25 Nm (2.5 kg/m)
2nd step for M10 thread 35 Nm (3.5 kg/m)
Tightening sequence
8 2 4 6
5 3 1 7
Note: Use oil on the threads and contact surfaces to reduce friction so that torque is not affected when tightening nuts.
