If your engine spontaneously stops at each traffic light and you must continuously operate the accelerator and brake pedal simultaneously to keep the engine running, there is a good chance your carburetor is ready for a complete overhaul.
It is not just a question of replacing a few seals, but of tackling the cause at source, i.e. equipping the accelerator and air shaft with new bronze rings.
Since there are not many people who can do this work themselves and it will be an expensive procedure if you have a specialized company doing it, buying a new carburetor is much cheaper and you are then in possession of a new part sourced from the factory.
These carburetors are only suitable for Type 1 engines and operate at 12 volts (conversion to 6 volts is of course possible). For each carburetor there is a detailed explanation in this text with which you can make the right choice and also know what the difference is with your old carburetor.
Paruzzi 2141 H30/31 PICT
Solex is the supplier of Volkswagen and Brosol is the executive producer, so you are dealing here with a carburetor from the original manufacturer.
Supplied with an adapter mounted, it can also be used as a replacement for the 34 PICT-3 or 34 PICT-4 carburetor.
We recommend that you immediately choose the right carburetor if you are looking for a replacement for the 34 PICT-3 or 34 PICT-4 and do not use this H30/31 with the adapter, due to the smaller diameter (31 instead of 34 mm) which costs unnecessarily much engine power. The adapter is mounted with two hexagonal bolts, loosen them and reuse the threaded ends to mount the carburetor on the manifold.
Paruzzi 4425 34 PICT-3 for Mexican engines
This carburetor is designed for the latest generation Mexican engines that were equipped with a vacuum system. This is a high quality reproduction that is often preferred to Paruzzi 2142 where the vacuum system is removed.
Paruzzi 2142 34 PICT-3
This carburetor is made more universal and can therefore also be used on Mexican engines after september 1977 (the vacuum system must be transferred) and is suitable for engines with dynamo (DC: direct current) or alternator (AC: alternating current).
Please note:
For all models and types of carburettors: only fill up with E5 petrol (octane number 98 ). When filling up with E10 petrol (higher concentration of ethanol), rubber and plastic parts can soften, our classic cars are sensitive to this.
