In Volkswagen Beetles up to and including 7/1968, the interior trunk cable is guided by a metal tube (welded to the bodywork) and to from 8/1968 it became a free plastic outer cable, in the Karmann Ghia it has always been a plastic outer cable. Due to age, the cable has often become brittle, causing cracks. Once the outer casing is interrupted, the inner cable will no longer be able to slide smoothly through it. This may make it more difficult to open the trunk or, in the worst case, it may not be possible to open it at all. If cracks are visible, it is advisable to replace this cable, better safe than sorry. The cable is the same as the original, equipped with a mounting part and a length of 1790 mm. For the Karmann Ghia, the cable must be shortened to 1390 mm .
Caution: Only for left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles
