The fuel tank of the VW Beetle, the Karmann Ghia, the VW Type 3 and the VW Thing is fixed in the bodywork with plates or clips that are fixed partly on the edge of the gas tank and partly on the bodywork.
Over time, Volkswagen has used two different types of locking clamps. The most common design is the square frog foot, but semi-circular plates have also been used.
Unfortunately, it is very difficult to know which model was used and when, especially because the original part numbers were also used interchangeably. The years of manufacture and VW models listed are the result of a search in the original VW parts books, based on the photo and not the VW number.
Therefore, it may happen that the year of manufacture and VW model listed for a particular lock plate does not match the installed plate. In this case, choose the correct model despite the fact that the year of manufacture and/or VW model do not match the description. Both plates have exactly the same function and can be used interchangeably, only the correct model is reused for originality.
