Maximum cooling air flow is essential with an air-cooled engine, therefore any form of air leakage must be avoided. In places where the cooling shroud cannot be completely sealed, rubber parts are used.
The oil pressure switch is hidden under the sheet metal. To prevent loss of cooling air, the switch is sealed with a rubber seal. Due to temperature changes in the engine compartment, the rubber eventually decomposes, in many cases it is even completely absent
