Due to frequent use, the locking mechanism wears out; it is possible that the hook can no longer hold the locking bracket and opens spontaneously. If the lock has lost its resilience, you do not need to buy a complete lock for the years from 8/1967 and after, the spring is available separately as a spare part, which is unfortunately not the case for older years of manufacture. It is also advisable to order new locks immediately, if the lock is so worn that it refuses to operate, you can assume that the striker plates need replacement (see options tab).
Note: For the models from 8/1967 and after, the spring is available separately and is listed under the Replacement Parts tab, it is intended to replace the new lock. If you are looking for the spring to replace the original, it is only intended for years up to and including 7/1971, the spring for years from 8/1971 is listed under the Related parts tab.
