The tension cables on the Volkswagen Beetle and Karmann Ghia convertible ensure that the convertible top is correctly guided in the open and closed position and that the top fits the side windows.
The Volkswagen convertible top is tensioned at the rear with the rear tensioning cable. This was done on the Volkswagen Beetle in 1966 and on the Karmann Ghia in 1967, before this period the Volkswagen was only nailed on the wooden frame.
When replacing the cables, it is advisable to replace the springs immediately (see Options tab)
If the metal strip through which the rear tensioning cable passes is rusted, it is also available separately (see the Related Parts tab).
