From the 1968 model year onwards, many changes took place, Volkswagen had to move with the times and this was reflected, among other things, in the control knobs.
The simple silver buttons in beige, ivory or black were replaced by larger black buttons with a ribbed edge and an icon referring to the button's function.
The button mentioned here is only suitable for the light switch, and if you own a VW Beetle, it can only be used if the dashboard doesn't have a rubber cover. If this is the case, you'll need a longer button which is listed in the "other models" tab.
With the original knob, the cap with the icon can be replaced, which is not the case with this reproduction, so you can't lose it or it can't spontaneously jump out of its knob.
