For the VW Beetle until 1964, the guide rail, which separates the door window from the vent window, is identical to the original in chrome finish. In most cases, a large amount of rust makes replacement necessary.
For the Bay Window Bus, window frames are available for both the cab and passenger compartment doors. Cab window frames (for movable vent windows) are suitable for the middle and rear side windows, while those for the cab doors are reserved for fixed vent windows (which cannot be opened). These frames are also made of aluminum, not steel. Both the guides and the frames are of a quality that surpasses the original in many ways, which is an improvement over what Volkswagen produced before.
For the VW Vanagon, this is a support/guide rail for fixed vent windows only. It is not chrome plated. If you want to keep it gray, you don't have to do anything else, but it is always possible to paint it with the body color. For the more luxurious Vanagons, which are equipped with movable vent windows, the frames are also available and are also made of aluminum in the same way as the guide for the fixed vent windows.
