Most classic Volkswagens are equipped with a torsion bar or leaf suspension, which is a number of spring steel leafs that come together to form the torsion spring. Over time, torsion springs begin to sag and, under very heavy loads, may even crack or break. The latter is not common in cars that have always been used on public roads. Only in the event of a major collision or off-road use can this happen.
If you have a narrowed front axle, you can no longer use the standard torsion springs, they must be narrower (like the stabilizer bar). If you have purchased a tapered front axle from our range, you don't need to measure anything, the spring kits listed below are the correct length. If not, you can take the gamble, but it's best to measure the whole set. The total length of these spring packs is listed as an extra.
Never replace only the top or bottom spring pack, but always at the same time. If you don't, chances are you will soon find yourself with a sagging suspension. Not all sets come in the same way, see the overview below to see if they come in a package (each) or two packages (as a pair).

3379: Suspension Bolts and Locknuts
The spring pack is attached in three places per pack, at the ends with the suspension brackets and in the middle. If the special socket bolts with lock nuts are badly corroded, it is advisable to replace them. They are supplied in sets of two (2 Allen bolts and 2 lock nuts). Applicable to all Volkswagens equipped with a torsion spring front axle.
