You searched for a part for your distributor. Many different distributors have been used over the years, in many cases they are interchangeable on other engines. Most of the Volkswagen Buses started life as a working tool, most of them were not treated well. Especially when the VW Bus is fully loaded or fitted with a bulkhead, the engine is no longer audible, so that the gear change can be forgotten and the engine runs at too high a speed. To prevent this from happening, Volkswagen has taken steps by fitting the rotor with a speed limiter which ensures that the ignition is interrupted when the maximum speed is reached.
They were also used in the factory for the Volkswagen Beetle and the Karmann Ghia, but only sporadically. If you use our online ignition tool, it is possible that both the rotor with speed limiter and the standard version are shown. Please make a thoughtful choice with or without a speed limiter.
Note: Please note that a 5 kilo-ohm rotor can only be used with conventional ignition and the 1 kilo-ohm version can only be used for cars that have been equipped with electronic ignition at the factory.
