The light switch is susceptible to failure. Due to age and moisture, malfunctions can occur, often due to corrosion of the internal contacts, in which case replacement is the only solution.
The susceptibility to malfunctions is greater with switches that are equipped with dimming lamps on the dashboard. If you feel a jerky resistance when dimming and the dash light also flickers during this operation, there is corrosion on the sliding resistor, so replacing the switch is the best solution.
Note: If your switch is attached with a nut through the dash, keep in mind that the nut is not included, this nut is listed in the "options" tab. If you are reusing your existing nut, check the thread diameter of the nut. If it is different from the one originally used for your build year, it is listed in the application.
