This simple quick-change kit allows you to use your existing gear lever, as well as special levers, to significantly reduce your gearshift travel.
For the set intended for the Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Type 3, VW Thing and VW Bus up to 1979 disassemble the existing gear lever and look at how the base plate is mounted, loosen the gear knob and remove the gear cover with casing, Slide the ball that came with the quick link set over the shifter until it can't go any further and thus lies on the existing ball of your shifter, mount the shifter cover back on the shifter and tighten the knob. Then mount the aluminium intermediate plate of the gearbox between the chassis and the base plate (mount the base plate in the same way as you removed it), mount the assembled shifter on the base plate and tighten it with the longer bolts (supplied) and adjust the shifter.
For the VW Vanagon, there are two types, first check the thickness of your gear lever (12 or 14 mm) and follow the fitting instructions that you will find under the tab "documentation" (fitting instructions).
With the model for the Volkswagen Beetle, Karmann Ghia, VW Type 3, VW Thing and VW Bus up to and including 1979, you get a 40% reduction in travel distances, while for the VW Vanagon, this amounts to 25%.
With the exception of the shorter gear changes, everything remains the same, your reverse gear stays in its place and the gears also stay in the same place, only the gear change is much faster than before.
These assemblies are made of aluminium, not to be confused with the plastic alternatives which are also available on the market, but whose quality is not comparable.
Not suitable for automatic versions
