The complete sets of brake lines are like the original ones made of steel. If you don't want any more rusty pipes, you will have to make them yourself out of copper. To make your own brake lines you will need tools that can double the flange (see tools). With the pipe cutter, the brake pipe is cut to the desired size, after which the collar is fitted with a double flange (required by law). In the case of a double crimp, the crimping is first carried out with the correct fitting part of the crimping tool, after which the crimping is carried out again, but without the fitting part. After flaring one side, you slide the two brake line connections with the threads outwards over the brake line and flare the other side. If only one pipe needs to be replaced, you can make it yourself out of copper, even if the other pipes are steel, which is another good reason to start making your own brake lines. The brake line is delivered on a 5 meter spool with an outer diameter of 5 mm. Take the necessary brake connections and if necessary the additional felt tool.
Attention: The brake line mentioned here has an outer diameter of 5 mm. The original or steel brake line sets have a diameter of 4.75 mm. Therefore, use only the 5 mm fittings listed below and not those from your old metal brake line.
01258 Brake line fittings:
You do not have enough with a simple brake line roll, you need the correct brake line fittings for the above mentioned brake line (5 mm) and supplied with the correct threads (M10 x 1.0 ). Order the correct number of additional fittings, so that you can complete the work in one go. They have a galvanized coating and are supplied in sets of 4.
Tools:
If you want to make your own brake lines, you need a flare device with which you can flare the line connections. This tool kit contains all the parts needed to mount double-flare fittings to the pipe. The kit consists of a pipe cutter that can cut 3 to 30 mm of pipe, a brake pipe flaring device that can clamp aluminum, copper and thin-walled metal brake pipe from 5 to 16 mm, including the necessary fittings. In addition to this necessary tool, a brake line bending tool is not an unnecessary luxury, especially if you need to bend the brake line with a sharp turn. With these pliers, you can easily shape the brake line in the same way as the original. You can find more information by clicking on the order number:
