The brake calipers can be overhauled with new seals and possibly new pistons. If this no longer makes sense, it is better to replace the complete caliper.
It is also common for the bleeder valve to be broken, if you are lucky, you can remove the broken part, but in general a new caliper will be required.
Complete new calipers are available for almost our entire range of classic Volkswagens and in some cases even in two grades. If this is the case, the A-qualityare the calipers as supplied by Volkswagen from the factory or original. The B-quality, on the other hand, is a reproduction, certainly not a bad choice, but keep in mind that defects are more likely to occur or the expected service life is shorter than that of the original.
The way the caliper is delivered varies from caliper to caliper, check the 'Options' tab for the extras you can take with it, so you don't miss parts afterwards that are also in need of replacement or are not included as standard.
