Between the door panel and door handle of the old Volkswagen Beetles and Karmann Ghia's and between the door panel and the upper window mechanism of almost all years of construction, there should be a spring that ensures that the door panel fits perfectly with the door handle and/or crank handle. Just take a look in your car, if the panel of your door does not fit properly to the escutcheon of the door handle and/or window crank, the spring may have lost its tension. But in most cases, the spring is not mounted. You might think that if the door panel constantly presses against the escutcheon, the door panel will wear out, but Volkswagen has of course taken this into account. The escutcheon acts not only as a finish but also as a sliding bearing, the door handle or window crank moves and the escutcheon must remain in place. Strangely, Volkswagen applied this system until 12.1977 and for the convertible (1303 ) until the end of production in 1980. For the convertible versions, this has never been applied to the rear windows, only to the doors.
Now that you know that this is the right method to remove this irritating gap between the door panel and/or window crank, you have the solution with these springs.
Note : The narrowest side of the spring must be towards the door, the widest side against the door panel, if not properly mounted, it can damage the door panel.
