The lever that opens the door from the inside has a dual function, by turning the lever on the other side, the door is locked.
This lever operates a rotation mechanism that is fixed to the lock by means of a locking rod. In the early years of construction, a flat sheet metal was used in which a profile was pressed and used as a central reinforcement, then it was improved by using a round rod which proved to be much more resistant.
If the locking mechanism is blocking while you turn the lever to try to open or close the door, the rod may bend. In addition to the lock and/or rotary mechanism, you must also replace the rod. Once the rod is bent, the resistance of the metal is lost, if you try to straighten it, it will bend again in the same place.
The locking rod is the same for the left and right.
