Our air-cooled Volkswagen uses engine cooling air, which is heated by exhaust gases and transported through pipes and tubes to the inside.
If there are no leaks, it is a heating system that works very well and many of the water-cooled cars of the time are jealous of it.
Unfortunately, there are often unjustified complaints about heating capacity, while the problem is often related to poor supply through heating pipes, or lack of insulation.
The tubes are located at the bottom of the car and are exposed to the weather, so rust is one of the main enemies of the heating system.
You can only check the condition of the tubes if you carefully remove the insulation. If the tube is rusty, you will need to replace it and then replace the insulation. Once the rusty pipes have been replaced and the rest of the heating system has been checked, you finally discover that the heating system is capable of very high temperatures, you will quickly lower the heating levers.
