There is practically no Volkswagen Bus with the outer sill intact. In many cases, the damage is hidden by a layer of mastic that is easy to detect. This outer sill replaces the original metal sheet, you do not weld anything together, the original sheet is removed, leaving the surrounding sheet intact.
These outer sills are available in two qualities, quality A is 100% similar to the original with a perfect fit and a thickness of 1 mm, while quality B has some flaws here and there. The fit is reasonably good for the quality B, it is mainly the convex shape that is not respected with quality B. If you want to deliver a perfect restoration, then of course you choose quality A, if the budget is tight or if it is not necessarily a superior restoration, then you can consider quality B.
We do not distinguish between the left and right side, but we are talking about the sliding door side or the side without a sliding door, because a sliding door can be present on the left or right or even on both sides.
