These hard plastic bumper end caps are mounted on the ends of the bumper and were originally designed to protect the end of the bumper, which is considered a sharp protruding part.
In the case of the Volkswagen Beetle, they are only applied on the latest American models where the bumper is also equipped with a bumper rubber that falls into the ends of the bumper rubber.
In the Volkswagen Vanagon, the bumpers do not extend around the body but these end pieces are an extension of the bumper in order not to create a sharp protrusion. These end caps are supplied with a protection cap but without the mounting hardware (see the Options tab).
