In the most luxurious Volkswagen Beetles, the panel covering the wiring in the housing can be removed separately to facilitate work on the wiring or other electrical components. The cheaper versions did not have this luxury, the cardboard trunk cover was continuous and the cover had to be folded to access electricity.
With a separate cover panel (see Related parts tab), the top side is attached to clamps and fixed at the bottom with the nuts listed here, which can be loosened without tools.
Most Beetles have standard nuts that you must loosen with a wrench instead of these special nuts. If this is your case, it is time to restore you Beetle with these nuts specific for this application.
