On older Type 1 engines, the carburetor is not retracted by a spring mounted directly on the throttle body, but by a spring system mounted around the throttle cable transit tube. This system is available as a complete assembly (see 'related parts' tab), but the mounting clamp that holds the spring system together is also available separately. Because this clamp is small, its loss is the most common reason for its purchase. The overviews below show for which VW engines and models it can be used.
