In order to reduce engine noise as much as possible, the engine compartment of the Volkswagen Beetle and Karmann Ghia has been fitted with insulation plates.
Due to the development of heat and age, these plates deform or break into pieces when removed over time. Check the condition of the insulation on a regular basis, you wouldn't be the first to see the rear insulation plate sucked in by the cooling fan and cut off the cooling and therefore an overheated engine or an expensive engine repair.
Be sure to secure the new insulation panels to the rear wall with the existing clamps and, if necessary, secure them more firmly with parker screws where the clamps are missing or have broken.
These A-quality insulation plates are virtually identical to the original in terms of fit and appearance, only the choice of material is different. Substances that can be hazardous to health were used in the original material, so these new insulation boards are a modern replacement where the appearance has been as close as possible. The advantage is that the insulation value has increased compared to the original.
You still have to make the holes for the wiring and a possible mounted diagnostic connector yourself, except for Volkswagen Beetles up to 7/1955, the appropriate recesses are already present.
Look out! Correct assembly is only possible with a dismantled motor. If the motor is integrated, you cannot reach all mounting points correctly, let alone tighten them if necessary
