There are hardly any Volkswagen Buses left whose underside does not need to be replaced. In many cases, the misery is hidden by a coating that won't pass the screwdriver puncture test.
You can replace the sill separately (see the replacement parts tab) and if the damage is more extensive, part of the side panel will also need to be replaced.
With the replacement sheet metal part shown here, you don't need to buy the side panel and the sill separately, in fact these parts are already spot welded, just like Volkswagen did at the factory.
On top, the side panel has been provided with a resistor for extra strength and to facilitate welding.
Note: Be careful not to apply too much heat, so don't weld everything at once but in small parts and let it cool down in between. If you hear "plop", you have a huge dent that will be very difficult to remove without gallons of filler.
