The side windows of the Volkswagen Split Bus are fully or partially equipped with pop-out windows, which can be opened a few centimeters.
There are not many Volkswagen Buses whose pop-out window frames are still in good working condition. The condition of the rubbers that seal the frame against the body is even worse.
In order to close the window properly, Volkswagen opted for a double rubber seal. One rubber is fixed in the window frame, the second one in the groove of the bodywork.
The rubber shown here is the one clamped into the window recess. Officially, you must slide the rubber into the recess, but in practice, this is not an easy task. By pushing the rubber into the recess with a plastic spatula, the installation becomes much easier.
Note: Use only glycerin for a smooth installation. Using any other lubricant will void the warranty on the rubber, as it may accelerate the aging process. You can order this supplement if you wish, it is mentioned in the options tab.
