To ensure that as little vibration as possible can be transmitted through the steering wheel, the connection between the steering column and the steering wheel is equipped with a rubber coupling.
In the last years of the construction of the Volkswagen Beetle, the connection is riveted, the rivets are sawn off and replaced by M8 x 32 mm bolts with lock nuts.
If you want to replace all connections, the Volkswagen Vanagon requires three parts, all other models only need one connection.
Note: Check the coupling for fine cracks with each maintenance service and replace it immediately if it is found to have fine cracks. If the connection is broken, your car is left without steering.
