The ball joint makes the mobile connection between the torsion arm and the spindle. The ball joint must adjust the rotational movement and compensate for the entry and exit movement of the torsion arm. A rubber sleeve protects the ball joint from dirt and moisture and also retains the grease that lubricates the ball joint.
The grease in the ball joint is essential for long-lasting performance without excessive wear, it forms a film between the ball joint and the socket and thus prevents metal-to-metal contact. Metal-to-metal contact will damage the ball joint and socket in which the ball joint is located, resulting in excessive wear.
The upper and lower ball joints are equal. If you want to replace them all, you need four.
Note: Never use grease when pressing the ball joint and have the notch on the edge of the ball joint tip in the direction of travel, there is also a mark on the suspension lever (notch). If the old ball joint has an arrow-shaped groove at 45° next to the direction of travel, it is an oversized ball joint. If this is the case, you will need to replace the torsion arm. Oversized ball joints are not available.
