Once the restoration is complete, the finishing work can begin, to give your classic a unique identity. Many accessories are available for our classic Volkswagen, one useful and the other purely decorative. The spare wheel of the Volkswagen Beetle 1200, 1300 and 1500, Karmann Ghia and VW Type 3 is placed upright in the trunk and immediately visible when the front trunk is opened. Many cover the interior of the trunk, forgetting the spare wheel, while a nicely matching cover is available in the same fabric as the trunk carpeting. This cover is slipped around the spare wheel at the top and covers the whole wheel, that really finishes the deal.
If you are in possession of a Volkswagen Bus and you have hung the spare wheel with a holder where the emblem is supposed to be (see related parts tab), it is not a nice view and your rim is not protected against the weather. The spare wheel requires a careful finish for which there are two moisture resistant covers that are padded on the inside to prevent friction scratches caused by wind.
The covers close around the edge and are held in place by an elastic flange at the back.
