On older models, the bracket that holds the clutch cable to the left side of the gearbox is integrated into the side cover. Later, this bracket was replaced by a separate bracket that is fixed with the mounting bolts of the cover.
Replacing the bracket because it can no longer perform its function is not very common, but its loss is the most common reason for buying a gearbox.
If you have a transmission from an earlier year and the integrated bracket has broken, you can mount a loose bracket without any problem and you don't need to look for a replacement cover.
Note: Check the correct deflection of the outer clutch cable after replacing the bracket. Use the correct length of cable jacket (the year of manufacture determines this length) and increase the deflection if necessary by placing rings between the cable jacket and the bracket.
