Sooner or later you will have to replace the clutch of your car, it is a wearing part for which you will unfortunately have to remove the engine. There are still a lot of people who only replace what is currently being replaced, but they don't realize that the other clutch parts are the same age and will soon have to be replaced as well. It is therefore always advisable to replace the clutch plate, the clutch release bearing and the pressure plate in one go (or you should have no objection to having to disassemble the engine again after a few weeks).
Clutch kits are available for all VW engines, they are matched, the chance that you order the wrong part is almost impossible. The pressure plate, release bearing and clutch plate are also available separately for many of the assemblies, so you always have the choice between a complete assembly or all parts separately. The indicated size is the diameter of the pressure plate or pressure disc, check this before ordering, it can happen that your complete flywheel or engine has been replaced by another type, by measuring the pressure plate or pressure disc you order the right set.
Note : Use only the recommended mounting grease for good and long-lasting lubrication between the clutch disc and the main shaft (also ensures a smooth fit), the upper bearing in the flywheel bolt and the places where the release bearing is tightened on the clutch fork. The mounting grease is heat-resistant, which guarantees long-lasting lubrication. If you use a universal lithium grease, it becomes liquid when the temperature rises during coupling, which can dirty the clutch disc. Take no chances and order the recommended mounting grease immediately. When mounting the clutch disc, use a guide rod to align the clutch disc with the crankshaft. Without this straightening tool, reassembling your motor becomes a very tedious and time-consuming job.
