If you're also bothered by the squeaking and crackling of your Volkswagen Beetle's trunk, here's an ideal solution: gas springs for the trunk hinge that replace the original springs, allowing the trunk to open quietly and stay open.
The model for the Beetle 1200-1300-1500 and VW 1302 fits both the original and the chromed trunk hinges (see options) and the model for the VW 1303 is the solution for bent springs (this is a problem with these models). Replace them for the gas springs and you are immediately rid of the problem.
The original springs are riveted at the hinge. Drill a hole in one side (the side where it is riveted) and mount the gas pressure spring with a bolt and locknut between the hinge. Mounting on the body is done in the same way as the original with a clamp, order this extra if necessary. Delivered in pairs
