On the later Type 1 engines, the oil filler box is screwed to the generator support with an internal nut, and on Type 3 engines it is the breather box that is screwed to the breather support with an internal nut. The same paper gasket is used for both applications.
This paper gasket is only useful if the sealing surfaces are still intact. If the contact surfaces are corroded, it is advisable to lubricate the gasket with liquid gasket (see options tab). If the contact surfaces are extremely corroded, a good seal will not be possible. It is then better to fit a rubber ring that is originally intended for ventilated oil inlets (see tab options).
On the 25 and 30 hp Type 1 engines, the filling piece is clamped into the generator support, the sealing ring is made of rubber and therefore has little influence on any corrosion.
