An open roof or ragtop was used in the more luxurious versions of our Volkswagen, an option that was particularly popular in hot regions. The first open roof consisted of a folding or sliding canvas roof, which was replaced by a metal sliding roof for Volkswagen Beetle export cars at the end of the 1964 model year. For the standard Volkswagen Beetle, this folding roof was still available until 1967, when only the metal sliding roof could be chosen as an option.
With the clamping plate mentioned here, the outer fabric is fixed to the front.
The metal plate is delivered in black transport paint, as it was originally when it was replaced. If other parts need to be replaced, see the related parts tab for direct references.
