The 009 distributor was originally developed by Porsche and is intended for the Porsche 912. If a non-original central carburetor or side carburetors are used, it is also necessary to adapt the distributor because the vacuum required for the advance mechanism is no longer the same as with an original carburetor.
The 009 distributor operates only with centrifugal advance, eliminating the need for a vacuum advance. The centrifugal advance works faster than the original distributor advance and is therefore more suitable for faster engines.
The 009 has a maximum advance of 21 to 24 degrees at 3600 rpm and is delivered with contact points, rotor, condenser and distributor head in bakelite, the seal around the ignition base is not included, it is available separately (see options tab).
Look out! When assembling a 009 advance, there are two things to keep in mind:
1. Cut off the idle feed connection on your carburetor.
2. The spark plug cables on the 009 must all be moved one position to the right compared to the original advance.
