If you wish to fit a wider rim with a wider tyre for better handling and/or a wider appearance, the fenders should be wider. You could widen your steel wings, but that's a time-consuming job that's reserved for professional sheet metal workers.
These widened fenders are made of fibreglass-reinforced polyester and are widened from the middle, so there are no widened edges on the sides.
The front fenders are equipped with a steel headlamp housing, so that the headlamp fits properly and without having to make any further adjustments, which would be the case with polyester headlamp housings. The holes for the turn signals and bumper mounts are not present, if you want to use them, you can easily make holes. The holes for mounting the fenders on the body are present and can be enlarged if necessary for a better fit.
Mount the fenders in the middle and work left and right. The fender can be mounted under tension, after a while the fender will take the right shape and the tension will disappear.
Polyester is easy to process, you can make adjustments and changes yourself. If, for example, you want to recess tail lights and/or turn indicators, then fix a piece of PVC hose in your fender with a PVC end cap at the rear, put it in place neatly and your tail lights or turn indicators are recessed.
Polyester has the great advantage that it is not related to rust, pre-treatment and finishing are the same as for steel. Just make sure that the spray booth is not heated too much, which can cause gas to form.
The 1967 front fenders (horizontal headlights) can be fitted to a Volkswagen Beetle from 1968, with the exception of the Beetle 1302 and 1303.
The rear fenders are interchangeable for all years and all models.
