Cooling hose clamps are spring steel clamps that are kept under constant tension. This is in contrast to normal hose clamps, which are tightened manually with a screwdriver or socket wrench.
It is important to use the correct hose clamp, adapted to the diameter of the hose.
You do not need to tighten these special coolant clamps, so you cannot damage the hose by overtightening the clamp.
However, we recommend that you replace them together with a new hose. Over time, the resilience will decrease. If you use your old hose clamps on a new hose, the hose may come loose.
Assembly and especially disassembly without the right tools is a delicate job, especially if the clamp is in a place where you cannot reach it with pliers or sometimes not at all. We advise you to buy the special pliers mentioned in the "options" tab.
Note: When replacing the original 32 mm spring clamp, Volkswagen advises to mount another clamp: a stainless steel worm screw clamp. This worm screw clamp is easier to mount. It has the specific clamping range of 23-35 mm and is indicated on the "alternatives" tab.
