The first air-cooled Volkswagens did not have a fuel gauge on board, but they did have a fuel tap, which could activate a reserve when the fuel was almost exhausted. In practice, everything went exactly as Volkswagen had thought: keep driving until the engine stops, quickly activate the fuel tap in reserve mode and then hope to be able to find a gas station before running out of fuel. A situation that you only encounter once, a mileage counter placed with a magnet on the dashboard and with which you can track the mileage was the solution back in the day.
The Volkswagen Beetle for the domestic market (called "Standard Beetle") had to do without a petrol meter for a very long time (it therefore has a fuel tap). The export models and all versions of the Karmann Ghia after1962 are equipped with a fuel gauge, the fuel tap was no longer used.
If the car ages, the fuel tap may leak, check the tap regularly for leaks and replace it if in doubt.
Delivered without filter, filter seal and tap handle, order the filter and seal in addition and reuse your old handle or buy an extended version (see options tab).
Warning: The years of construction mentioned are based on the assumption that the original fuel tank is still present, if your car has already been equipped with a replacement tank, the size of the thread may vary. The Paruzzi tank 03089 is the same as the original, it is next to the original tank the only tank on which this fuel valve can be mounted.
